A Paducah man died Saturday as a result of a shooting outside of The Brickhouse at 901 Boyd St. Police said Gary Johnson, 46, died at Baptist Health Paducah early Saturday evening from a single gunshot wound he received during the altercation.
Capt. Brian Laird said officers responded to the shooting at 12:45 a.m., and found Johnson lying on the ground with an apparent gunshot wound. Officers immediately began first aid on Johnson, who was taken to the hospital for treatment.
Detectives arrived on the scene and were told by witnesses that several people were shooting firearms when Johnson was struck during the gunfire.
Two men have been arrested and a third is being sought in connection with the incident.
Denzel Powell, 23, of Paducah, was arrested hours later on an unrelated warrant charging him with first-degree wanton endangerment.
During the interview, he admitted to having fired a handgun in the incident, police said.
Following Johnson's death, Powell's charge was upgraded to murder.
Police said the other two men involved were Christopher Smith, 34, and Tracell Nunn, 27, both of Paducah.
Smith was later arrested on a charge of first-degree wanton endangerment.
Officers have not located Nunn, but have obtained a warrant charging him with first-degree wanton endangerment. The investigation is continuing.
